Learning to read in the first years of primary school is critical for retention and success in future grades. Literacy is the cornerstone of development. It leads to better health, better employment opportunities, safer and more stable societies.

OSRA and Souriyat Across Borders (SAB) have established new learning center in Kelly camp in North West Syria.

The center is providing remedial education including literacy and numeracy classes for more than 150 children in NWS camps.

Dealing with COVID-19 

OSRA implemented the following prevention activities to create safe education environment:

 

  • Divide the students into two groups to reduce the number of students per classroom.
  • Procuring and Distributing sterilization kits including disinfection and masks.
  • Ensuring that educational staff are confirming to safety procedures such as keeping social distance and wearing masks.
  • Daily disinfection of seats.
  • Sterilization of students’ hands each time they enter the classroom.
